Galerie
Services: UX, UI, Research
This was concept work for a course where a local art gallery, named Galerie, needed help building a sense of community through a digital experience.
In addition to designing the UI in Figma, I conducted the entire UX design process (analyses, usability tests, iterations, etc.).
Problem:
How might we foster a sense of community in the local art scene so gallery-goers feel more connected?
Goal:
Design a mobile experience where users can learn about their favorite artists, favorite artwork, and share their pieces with their friends.

Testing Results:
A round of usability testing was done with the first prototype and results were very interesting.
While some users found the process of liking a piece of artwork intuitive, the common theme was that the images and visuals needed to be larger and more prominent in the viewport (since this is an app showcasing artwork, duh!).
Given the scope of the project and the testing results, I decided to focus on designing the user flow for favoriting and sharing artwork.

Conclusion:
Based on the findings from the first usability study I focused on making the visuals more prominent in the design.
I took inspiration from famous Dutch Impressionists to create a subdued color palette to accentuate a feeling of sophistication while keeping accessibility in mind.
Moving forward, I would continue to design the user flow of the entire application ensuring that users find the experience satisfying and usable.
Ultimately, by emphasizing minimalist design and seamless interactions, the museum would boost both online and in-person visits, successfully fostering a vibrant local art community.
